police foot pursuit/standoff happening 50 ft from my window

So far we have at least six interceptors (suburban, 2 new explorers, 3 crown Vics) including 3 K-9 units. They apprehended one suspect, but the other fled. They had him at gunpoint and threatened to shoot but they didn't...

This has been going on for 2 hours. Cops all centered around one property where they caught one and cornered the other... 5 cops just exited the property empty handed... But no one has their gun drawn anymore. A crown vic just left. Likely victim (older man with matching jeans and denim jacket) now filling out police report on hood of suburban.

Aaaand now the perimeter appears to be expanding. But no officer seemingly on guard... Guy with purple gloves seemingly scourering for discarded evidence?

aaaand cop just knocked on my door! Apparently my neighbors have been busted for a large marijuana growing operation!

Reminds me of three years ago when my neighbors got busted for selling heroin out of their house. 6 cop cars, a K-9 unit, 4 people arrested.

It went something like this:

I see the suspect cutting along the fence looking for an escape, even before the police notice. Then three cops close in, and starts yelling, "Police! Get down or we will shoot! Do you think I'm fucking kidding?" The suspect raises his arms briefly and gets wide-eyed and then bolts. All three officers lower their weapons and pursue on foot. I mean he was within 5 feet of them, and officer had ample opportunity to "disable" him. I was relieved they didn't shoot, especially now that I know he was just growing weed vs being a suspected carjacking-rapist serial killer or something.

Yeah, I thought it was a pursuit of an aggressive crime or possible homicide... As I said, I was relieved my wife (who was getting in her car at the time) wasn't in imminent harms way from a dangerous criminal, but to learn that it was all because of some plants...

This isn't really surprising. The legalization of marijuana in this state just upped DWI laws as well as laws against intent to sell without an approved license... It also increased the the price of marijuana by a large margin (from a dispensary).

What actually irks me is that the cop said they received an anonymous tip about the operation. I myself had large suspicions of what was going on, but a neighbor told me it was a grow operation for sure. Which was fine by me... I think I might know who was the tipster. Pretty odd. To suddenly care. Those neighbors kept to themselves and never bothered anyone. That's pretty much the code we have on this block. Respect boundaries and keep to yourself.

I'm guessing you're in WA? Seems more risky to have cops chasing people with guns than having people growing plants. The plants are probably smarter than the cops.

Yes this is WA. I definitely was not feeling safe... these drawn guns were mere feet from my bedroom when the standoff occurred... Two guys had some sort of semi-automatic looking guns in case they needed to mow down those greasy marijuana farmers by the droves?

Yeah, they would have been insulated from lawsuits by the King County SD had they shot through the hippies house into yours.
